Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. DiCarlo underwent heart surgery at the age of six, and from that point, he knew he wanted to go into healthcare and help people. He originally thought about being a pediatrician and volunteered at the local hospital while in high school. He eventually shadowed his childhood dentist and decided that dentistry would be a better fit for him. Now, he gets to bring the warmth and caring heart of the pediatrician he might have become to his dental patients in the field that he loves.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After completing the rigorous course requirements for his degree from the New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. DiCarlo attended a two-year General Practice Residency at Staten Island University Hospital. He was recognized for his excellent clinical skills and served as Chief Resident during the second year. To date, he has taken over 500 hours of continuing education, mostly through Spear Education and the Dawson Academy, and has completed courses focused on laser dentistry and Botox/fillers.
Dr. DiCarlo is also a member of several professional organizations, including the:
- American Dental Association
- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
- Academy of General Dentistry (Fellowship Status)
- Academy of Laser Dentistry
- American Academy of Implant Dentistry
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When he isn’t helping patients, you’ll mostly find Dr. DiCarlo spending time with his wife, Jenna, and their four young children. Their favorite thing to do together is read books and watch Disney movies! His personal hobbies revolve around staying active and include golf and running (he ran the NYC marathon in 2019).
